Rainbow developed the Leveled Library Take and Teach Lessons & Assessment Quizzes to be used in connection with HMH’s Into Reading ©2020, National Edition.
These four- to eight-page guided reading instructional lessons were designed to accompany each leveled reader in the Rigby Leveled Library for Grades K–6. Each lesson includes a Key Ideas & Details instructional session as well as two target skill instructional sessions.
Rainbow developed content for all Take and Teach Lessons for Grades K–2 and provided full-service content review — a total of 1,800 pages. In addition, Rainbow developed content for all 30 of the Take and Teach Lessons for Grade 6 and provided full-service content review of all 120 pages, from manuscript to soft proof.
Each Take and Teach Lesson is accompanied by a Comprehension Quiz. Rainbow developed content for all 90 quizzes — a total of 425 assessment items.
Rainbow provides ongoing Guided Reading scores for HMH’s Reading/Language Arts programs. Most recently, Rainbow delivered Guided Reading scores for hundreds of English and Spanish leveled readers, focal texts, trade books, read alouds, build schema texts, and big books to be used in connection with HMH’s instructional program, Into Reading ©2020, spanning all Guided Reading Levels A–Z.
Rainbow’s highly-qualified team of Reading Recovery teachers and Guided Reading experts carefully analyze each selection to accurately determine and assign the appropriate Guided Reading score.
Close Reading Packs ©2014 “promote careful analysis of text while building the 21st Century skills of critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.” For each pack, Grades 2–6, Rainbow developed four leveled student passages for close reading and one additional applied learning passage to be used with a culminating activity. Rainbow also developed customized Teacher Instruction and Student Response Sheets for each pack.
This project, built to the Common Core State Standards, involved full-service “soup to nuts” product development: editorial content; prototypes; InDesign templates; design and production through final file delivery; art creation, photo research, and image tracking; passage leveling and scoring; and CCSS correlations. During the ideation phase of the project, Rainbow created a full program Scope and Sequence as well as a Topics Chart for all 300 passages.
Rainbow handled “start-to-finish” development of Voices Leveled Reading Benchmark Kit ©2013. During the ideation phase, Rainbow handled the scope and sequence development, prototyping, and worked with program authors to incorporate their input into the planning. Rainbow then managed manuscript development, 1pp, 2pp, FPP, and PDF review. This kit includes 56 Leveled Readers and 48 Leveled Passages that span Fountas & Pinnell levels A–Z and is used in K–6 classrooms. In addition, Rainbow conceptualized and developed Oral Reading Assessments for each reader and passage to give teachers ready-made running records to assess reading fluency, accuracy, and comprehension.
Sharing Pearson’s goal of encouraging students to “Read Like a Detective,” Rainbow developed leveled student passages and differentiated teacher instruction for Grades 3–4 of Reading Street Sleuth ©2013. Intended to be utilized during small group instruction, this collection of fiction and nonfiction content-infused passages was written to Lexile grade level bands suggested by the Common Core State Standards.
